All the leaves are brown and . . . therefore it’s time to think GREEN!

Green as in Trees. Trees Atlanta that is.

Mark your calendar for February 27, 2010, but read more for details and order deadlines!

The tree population of Historic College Park has taken a hit over the last few years due the extended drought and last years high winds and storms. We all appreciate our trees as a major contributor to the beauty of our neighborhood. But trees don’t last forever. They have to be cared for and when needed, replaced.

Enter Trees Atlanta. They are a nationally recognized citizens group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving and educating. Trees Atlanta is offering to split the cost of planting a $120 tree in your front or side yard. This includes helping to determine the best tree for the location, delivery and assistance planting and mulching.

The Historic College Park Neighborhood Association is once again partnering with Trees Atlanta by donating the funds to plant 5 trees on city property. The City of College Park is also helping to sponsor additional trees to be planted on College Park city property. The trees were requested at the February 15th City council meeting!

A minimum order of 40 trees is required for Trees Atlanta to participate in this project, so we need your help. Consider replacing or adding to the trees in the front or side of your house. Or consider donating a tree for the parks or common areas of HCP. Or you can grab a shovel and help us dig a few holes on tree planting day. Please tell your friends and neighbors as you do not need to be a member of HCPNA to participate.

Trees Atlanta could put HCP on the map!
