The
City of College Park is changing with the growth in population to
provide the best services possible. Local
governmental services include twice-a-week backyard garbage pickup,
hauling of larger refuse items and street cleaners that remove yard
waste without the need to bag it. Yard waste is recycled and made
available to us as free compost.
The
local police department is very active in our neighborhoods with
their Community Policing Program and Citizens Police Academy. Police
provide a sense of security and have a response time of only a few
minutes. College Park also boasts many neighborhood amenities. There
are well maintained parks with tennis courts and picnic areas, running
track, athletic fields, gymnastics center, a pool and a nine hole
public golf course. Sidewalks provide easy access to many areas
in the community.
Special Announcements:Burn Ban
May 1, 2006 through September 30, 2006
The College Park Fire Department is reminding its citizens that a mandatory outdoor burning ban is now in effect. This ban is put into effect each year by the Georgia Environmental Protection Agency during the summer months in order to reduce the smog caused by outdoor burning and higher temperatures. This outdoor burning ban does not ban outdoor cooking on grills. For more information, contact the College Park Fire Department at 404-766-8248.
